Composed late in life, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle is a work of striking intimacy and unexpected depth. Blending operatic lyricism with sacred solemnity, it moves effortlessly between humility, exuberance, and heartfelt devotion. Witty, tender, and deeply human, this “little” mass is anything but small.
