At Lake Waikaremoana and within Te Urewera are some of Hawke’s Bay’s best trout fishing. Make sure you purchase a compulsory fishing licence from Waikaremoana Holiday Park store, where you can also hire a fishing rod if you don’t have one yourself.

The Ruakituri River is a premier trout fishery offering anglers the chance to fish for magnificent trophy trout within a beautiful setting. It offers a range of fly fishing opportunities from wilderness fishing for huge trout in the headquarters to easily accessible river fishing in the middle and lower reaches.

If you want to find out where the best fishing spots are, book a tour and hear lots about the history of the area while you are fishing with an experienced local fisherman.

David Dods is a world renowned professional fly fishing guide - he will guide you to some of the best brown and rainbow trout hotspots New Zealand has to offer. All levels of experience are welcome.
