TE REINGA FALLS SCENICRESERVE

LOCATION

Located 35kms inland from Wairoa. Take a turn right at Frasertown onto Tiniroto Road. Follow the road until you reach Te Reinga, where you turn left and cross the bridge over the river. The carpark is at the western end of the bridge.

ABOUT THE WALKWAY

From the carpark and picnic area, a short stroll takes you to views of the spectacular Te Reinga Falls (35 metre drop in the Wairoa River). The falls are fed by the Hangaroa and Ruakituri Rivers that merge just above.

TIP

Bring a picnic and enjoy it at this tranquil spot - a favourite with the locals.

For scenic views, after your picnic continue on Ruakituri Road, Erepeti Road and Ohuka Road. This drive will provide you with amazing views over rolling hills, farmland and grazing animals. Along Ruakituri Road you can find a few options to stay overnight. Fishing in the Ruakituri River is world renown.

Ohuka Road will take you back to SH38 from where you can either continue to Lake Waikaremoana or to Wairoa via Frasertown.
