When you’re at Māhia on a nice day, make sure that you go for a drive along Kinikini Road. You will be rewarded with stunning views along cliffs, down valleys, along the coast and the isthmus that connects Māhia Peninsula with the mainland. Walk up one of the hills, feel the breeze and admire the beautiful patterns of the sea.
Please take caution on this road as it is very narrow and windy. Not suitable for campervans!
Follow SH2 towards Gisborne, at the Nūhaka roundabout and go straight to Māhia. At Māhia, follow Newcastle Street past the Beach Store, Māhia Fishing Club and Mokotahi Hill. Continue onto Kinikini Road for about 7kms to a small parking area.
