Bannerman with special guests Kitty Day and The 5 O

Ladies & Gentleman Bannerman is back and ready to bring some quietly dramatic, disarming and melancholic music to a Hawkes Bay audience for their first club show since 2013!

A long hibernation has seen Richie Setford in Berlin all this time and he's missed you terribly. Bannerman now consists of resident pros Paula Sugden (cello), Campbell Burns (bass) and Andrew Gladstone (drums), cold plunging themselves into a songbook 4 albums deep and counting.

Sharing the stage for this one off will be the captivating and rare Kitty Day and the disheveled bravado of The 5 O'Clock Shadows.

Bannerman

Since 2008 Richie has poured his thoughts and ideas into Bannerman and been aided by a cast of friends and musicians who have worked with him on the sonic “world building” of albums The Dusty Dream Hole (2010), Dearly Departed (2011) and Clawhammer (2013). Along the way he has toured with or supported, amongst others, The Magic Numbers, Shovels & Rope, Tiny Ruins, Anais Mitchell, Marlon Williams, Julia Jacklin, Lawrence Arabia, Kat Frankie and Margaret Glaspy.

"In his darker moments, he might be a more tuneful Nick Cave, but his melodies are so full of unexpected twists, his chord changes so cunning, that I'm equally reminded of the Beatles' White Album era."
(The Dusty Dream Hole) – Nick Bollinger, The Listener

“A deeply engaging listen…”
(Dearly Departed, 4.5/5) – Lydia Jenkin, NZ Herald

“Bannerman make you realise once again that not only can he/they not be easily pushed into a box, but that sense of the unexpected is exactly what gets you in...and keeps you there...When this album isn't song-noir it is luminescent. Rare stuff."
(Clawhammer) – Graham Reid, elsewhere.co.nz

Kitty Day

A singer-songwriter with an expressive, soulful voice who wears her heart on her sleeve and has been documenting her life in song for over fifteen years. Transplanted from London in 2017, Kitty now haunts the Hawke's Bay music scene with her thought-provoking melodies, and has self-released two albums and an EP.

The 5 O'Clock Shadows

Surf guitar instrumentals made from one part Shadows, one part Dick Dale, a sprinkling of the Ventures, with just a dash of Britney Spears and a little too much beer. Perfect.
