If you’re driving down Latham Street and suddenly feel the temperature shoot up, that’s just the heat generated whenever these two teams clash on a cricket field.
The Central Stags beat the Cantabs in the Dream11 Super Smash last summer, they beat them in The Ford Trophy one-day final here a few years ago and now here they are taking up arms against each other in the long version of the game - the Stags out to beat them again.
It’s free entry to this round three match of the history-drenched first-class Plunket Shield - celebrating 100 summers of national men’s competition this season.
The Stags have been regular Plunket Shield champions in recent years, more so than any other team and McLean Park is their fortress so pop along any time to spot current and future Test stars showing how to play cricket at its toughest and finest in a four-dayer.
Bring lunch or pop out for coffee and consumables on Latham Street. More info, livescoring and ground updates at www.cdcricket.co.nz
