A superb concert showcasing the talent of our finest young musicians.
Leading NZ concert pianist and educator, Dr Jian Liu will select the Young Musician of the Year from the six finalists previously chosen at the YMY Preliminary competition the weekend before - tickets also on Eventfinda.
Each young musician will perform their chosen programme which includes a diverse range of classical and contemporary music - see the website for the programme. The winner will be named Freemasons HB Young Musician of the Year and awarded a $1500 scholarship for future studies.
This year the choral group Octavius will perform a piece by local composer Stephen Lange 'Poipoia Te Kakano', commissioned for the IRMTNZ conference early this year. This will be the first public performance and Octavius has the sole rights to perform it this year - so its a rare opportunity.
