Kick off the Hawke's Bay Arts Festival at ArtsFest Heretaunga - a FREE, fun-filled afternoon bursting with creativity, colour and community.
Enjoy live music, street art, kai and hands on arty fun for all ages, including the high energy bilingual beats of Niccolo Piccolo. With storytelling, caricatures, a silent disco, and surprises around every corner, this is your invitation to get amongst it.

ARTY HIGHLIGHTS AROUND THE CITY CENTRE:
Landmark Square
- Lawn games, ceramic painting, plus a live performance by Niccolo Piccolo (5.30pm)
Tribune Precinct
- Silent disco fun for all ages
Corner of Heretaunga St East and Warren Street
- Caricaturist creating fun sketches
- Create a cherished memento, with a typed poem by Rosheen Fitzgerald
Albert Square
- Eventsitters children’s craft table (finishing 6.30pm)
- Local music student showcase (finishing 5.30pm)
- 5:30-6:30pm: Performance by local singer Mahina Lawrence (5.30 - 6.30pm)
Hastings Art Gallery
- Join Hastings Art Gallery for an evening of art and conversation, as they host artists Scott Brough and Holly Morgan for a talk about their work in Burning Ground exhibition at 5.30pm. Gallery will be open late from 5pm–7.30pm. Enjoy wine, nibbles, and activities for the whānau.
Hastings Arts Centre
- Celebratory opening of the “110 Years of the Opera House” exhibition, starting at 6pm
