Mānawatia a Matariki ki Maraenui

Everyone is welcome to Napier's friendliest Matariki celebration on Wednesday July 1.

Maraenui welcomes the whole community to Mānawatia a Matariki ki Maraenui at the Maraenui Shopping Centre Reserve, 38 Bledisloe Road, from 11am till 3pm.

Together we'll celebrate Matariki through culture, connection, performances, kai, activities, learning, remembrance and joy.

The day features free health checks, musical performances from all age groups – kohanga reo to kaumatua - and activity stations based on the nine Matariki stars.

MC for the event is the wonderful Maraenui-born entertainer Pereri King.

Come enjoy, reflect, learn and celebrate together.

See you there on Wednesday July 1.

The event is organised by Hubba Harrison on behalf of the Tu Tangata Maraenui Trust. Sponsors include Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust, Te Kaunihera o Ahuriri Napier City Council, Te Taiwhenua o Te Whanganui Ā Orotu, Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated and Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga Ministry of Education.
