Napier’s beloved New Year’s Eve event returns to the iconic Soundshell on Marine Parade, promising an unforgettable night of music, community, and fireworks as we welcome 2026!
Headlining this year is White Chapel Jak, one of New Zealand’s most beloved live covers bands. Known for their high-energy shows, funky-groove sound and infectious stage presence, White Chapel Jak has built a reputation for getting crowds dancing - no matter their age.
Joining the lineup is a dynamic mix of local talent:
- Urban Dukes, a Hawke’s Bay covers band bringing pop, funk and reggae-infused grooves - expect feel-good hits to keep the vibe alive.
- Devils Elbow, delivering punk-influenced alt-country grit and garage-rock energy, adding a raw, rootsy sound that pairs perfectly with the evening’s mix of soul, groove and rhythm.
- Ella Pollett, an award-winning singer/songwriter from Hawke’s Bay, whose heartfelt songwriting and soulful vocals have won hearts across the region. Known for her blend of indie, folk and alt-pop sensibilities, Ella brings warmth and emotion to the stage.
- Plus, we have the Sophie Jean Dance Company joining us to perform for the first time this year!
The celebrations kick off at 7 PM, and the night includes two fireworks displays - an early show at 9:45 PM for the young ones and the main event at midnight as we ring in the New Year. Between sets, enjoy food trucks and, of course, the iconic seaside vibes at Marine Parade.
This alcohol-free event is brought to you by Napier City Council and community partners. Bring your friends & whānau down to celebrate New Year’s Eve by the sea. Rain or shine (unless deemed unsafe), this is the ultimate way to start 2026.
Patrons are reminded that there is a liquor ban in place in the CBD, and no fires are to be lit on the beach.
See you there!
Please note: a photographer will be present at this event, and photos may be shared on Napier City Council’s social media pages. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Ngā mihi!
