Thabani Gapara presents – Dzindza “A Celebration of African Heritage” After a standout performance at Church Road’s Jazz in the Park, award-nominated saxophonist and composer Thabani Gapara returns to Hawke’s Bay this spring with his DZINDZA NZ Tour. On 1 November at the iconic Toitoi Opera House, Gapara and his incredible band are set to bring an evening of soulful African jazz fusion - with a sound that draws on Afrobeat, Highlife, Mbaqanga, and Mbira – woven together with influences of funk, soul, and Zouk – Gapara creates music that feels both deeply rooted and joyfully contemporary. “Dzindza is about ancestry and connection – a celebration of where we come from and how that lives in the music we create today,” says Gapara. Following his world-class set at Jazz in the Park and fresh from a nomination for Best Jazz Album at the 2025 Aotearoa Music Awards, Gapara’s return to Hawke's Bay promises another unforgettable night of rhythm, storytelling, and celebration. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this powerful musical journey.
