Kitchen Takeover Presents: Maumahara with Kārena & Kasey Bird

Amazing food evokes beautiful memories, and never has this been more apparent than with Maumahara - Kitchen Takeover's latest culinary journey with Kārena and Kasey Bird.

Fresh from taking Wellington on a Plate in an award-winning, sold-out storm, this is a deeply personal and emotional food journey for the talented siblings (Te Arawa, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Manawa), who draw on their own childhood memories, growing up in the coastal village of Maketu, to bring diners six courses of edible nostalgia.

Using world-class cooking techniques they've amassed in their creative careers, Kārena and Kasey allow their guests to reminisce, to explore what it means to grow up in Aotearoa, using the flavours that helped shape their tastebuds and the way Te Ao Māori has influenced their lives.

The dining experience conjures memories of driftwood bonfires, melted ice cream, garage parties, midnight feasts and digging for pipi in the local estuary. It's also a recognition of the past, a reflection of the present and a hope for a positive future, with food and festivity helping heal divisions and promote understanding.

You will not want to miss this.
