A Moment In Time - a Postcard Themed Concert

A Moment In Time - a Postcard Themed Concert

In this concert, Napier’s premier choir, Octavius, will bring a program of songs which – like postcards sent from holiday journeys – capture a moment in time. And a very special choir will also perform as guest artists in the concert.

Octavius will sing some familiar songs in new arrangements, beginning with childhood treasures like The Owl and the Pussycat, Sing a Song of Sixpence and Monday’s Child, a set of five nursery rhymes.

Traditional songs Drink to me Only and the familiar Londonderry Air and romantic airs Red, Red, Rose and Remember will remind us of cards and letters written with love, and beautiful compositions by American Eric Whitacre, and medleys of songs by Richard Rogers and Andrew Lloyd-Webber will give snapshots of the work of these prolific composers.

The special guest for this concert is Ad Lucem – from Napier Girls High School. The choir is directed by Chris Atkinson, Head of Music at the school, and long-time member of Octavius. Ad Lucem recently sang in the New Zealand Choral Federation East Coast festival for secondary school choirs and is one of just 24 choirs chosen to sing in the national Finale festival in Christchurch. All are welcome - and sure to enjoy this concert. Do come, and bring a friend!
