Get ready for an unforgettable evening of rhythm, culture, and spectacular storytelling as the Hawke’s Bay Indian Cultural Centre (HBICC) celebrates the 11th anniversary with Music And Dance Event, M.A.D.E 2026 & Chandra Tara.
Chandra Tara – A Love Between Worlds is a visually rich, emotionally charged stage production that weaves mythology, romance and spectacle into a timeless story of love, sacrifice and unity.
Set between the ruins of an ancient temple and the celestial realms of the gods, the narrative follows Vidhu, a divinely chosen dream-weaver tasked with building a sacred temple to restore harmony between heaven and earth. Vidhu meets Devaki, a woman whose spirit mirrors the beauty of the stars. Their connection inspires the creation of a temple fuelled not just by stone, but by love. However, this love is tested by jealousy and obsession, setting in motion a tragic path that cannot be undone.
Through breathtaking dance, evocative soundscapes, immersive visuals and a dynamic fusion of contemporary and classical storytelling, Chandra Tara explores the enduring power of love in all its forms, romantic, spiritual and communal. Fireflies, celestial beings, and shifting landscapes create a dreamlike world where emotions shape reality and loss gives way to legacy.
This vibrant celebration of HBICC’s M.A.D.E 2026 will showcase electrifying live music by the renowned “Bollywood Bindaas Band”, led by the talented Anton Wuts, alongside special dance performances by HBICC students.
