Kia orana, Noa’ia, Talofa lava, Mauri, Mālō e lelei, Tālofa, Ni Sa Bula Vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Mālō ni and warm Pacific greetings.
You are all invited to come along to Fiafia Day ’22, Saturday 20 August between 1-7pm at Toitoi.
Fiafia, literally meaning a celebration or get together, are traditionally held as a public social occasion where different people and groups share food and exchange their performances of music and dance. Fiafia Day ’22 will be a day for the Hastings community to come together and celebrate all things Pasifika!
Brought to you by the Hastings District Libraries and Toitoi teams working alongside local Pasifika communities, Fiafia is being held as an extension of the nine Pasifika language weeks we celebrate throughout the year. Fiafia will complement all of these and bring a touch of Pasifika to Hastings City with cultural performances, activities and information about our Pasifika peoples and nations.
You will enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere with maker spaces available for children, a peek at the beautiful Opera House and a range of cultural performances taking place throughout the day in Functions on Hastings.
Food is an important part of Pasifika culture and there will be a selection of food trucks or vendors onsite to tempt your taste buds! Come on down and join together for a fun-filled day for the whole family.
