Cyclocross (CX) takes elements from both road and mountain bike racing and presents as a spectator friendly, short, fast race that all ages and skill levels can enjoy. It’s typically raced on an off-road circuit, each lap takes about 4-6 minutes to complete. Riders complete several laps in each race.
Cyclocross Hawkes Bay holds a series of events through the winter that anyone can enter and enjoy. There is a series of 6 events, and each event offers the following options:
9:50am: Balance Bikes and Parent & Child fun ride.
The course is restricted to balance bikes and kids that need parents alongside them only.
10:00am: Future Stars Kids 7 and under starts 10am.
Five minutes around a child-friendly circuit. Entry is Koha, this is a great way for your children to ride their bikes on a nice safe fun course and learn some great bike handling skills. Please, no balance bikes or trailers in this race.
10:10am: My Ride Future Star Kids 10 and under.
10 minutes race on a slightly longer kid friendly circuit. Great fun and entry is koha.
10:20am: CX45 (45 minutes) CX30 & CX30 Relay (30 minutes) CX20 U15 (yes it's 20 minutes
CX45 and CX30 races start at about 10:30 after the kids' events. Open to riders of any ability, it's your choice how far you want to race.
